  • Recipes
  • Tomatoes can be grown from seed indoors in early spring or buy young plants in late spring for outdoor production.
  • Plants should be 16 inch apart and well watered in.
  • Plants should be well watered if soil is dry and benefit from liquid tomato feed once flowers form.
  • Pinch out any new growth between the main stem & branch to promote fruit production. Support plants with canes.
  • Harvest as tomatoes ripen.
  • Raw – pick freshly ripened tomatoes straight from the vine! Ideal with salads.
  • Cooked – grilled, fried, roasted and added to many dishes for colour and flavour.

Bengali Tomato Chutney

  • In a microwave safe bowl, heat 1tsp oil for 1 min then add ¼ tsp of panch phoron seeds & cook for 1 min.
  • Add 2 cups of cubed tomatoes, mix, cover & cook for further 3 minutes.

  • Heat cook for 10 minutes stopping twice to stir.

Easy Tomato Soup

  • Take all remaining tomatoes from the plant at the end of the growing season (green and red!) and blitz!
