Make ¾ inch deep trench and space 3 seeds 1 foot apart in April. Cover seeds with soil and then water the trench. As seedlings develop remove 2 weaker seedlings. Feed with a water soluble, high nitrogen feed & remove weeds. Cut when spears are well formed – central spear first to promote side spears. Cooked – very quick to steam, stir fry. Can be added to soups, summer salads & vegetable lasagne. Broccoli with garlic, fennel & mustard seeds Fry mustard seeds in oil in a large frying pan for a minute then add tbsp. minced garlic, cinnamon stick & fennel seeds. After 2 minutes, add 2 lbs broccoli spears & mix well. Add 4 tbsp vegetable stock & seasoning & mix. Cover and cook for 2 minutes then add 2 sliced green chillies until broccoli cooked. Serve immediately with sliced ginger garnish.
