Last updated on 29th October 2018

  • How To Grow
  • How To Eat
  • Dig the soil, remove all weeds and add compost or well rotted manure.
  • Make a flat bottomed trench 2 inch deep and 6 inch wide & sow seeds 3 inch apart evenly.
  • Water well – especially at flowering & add a mulch to retain water.
  • Pinch out tips of growing plants to force bushing growth.
  • Use pea-sticks or netting to allow plants to climb.
  • Pods are ready to harvest when they look and feel full and firm.
  • Some peas can be dried to be used next year.
  • Raw – out of the pod or added to a summer salad.
  • Cooked – added to risottos, soups, casseroles – boiled, mashed or made into a steamed sweet dumpling dish.
