Staff from Burnley Council, Sir John Thursby Community College and Urbaser Ltd, took part in a Corporate Action Day at the March Street Community Gardens site today. It looked set for a stormy start, as dark skies loomed overhead whilst the distant snow-topped Pendle Hill served to remind that although the Spring equinox has now passed the weather remains inclement.
The three companies were helping to renovate the pathways around the site of The Chill Club raised beds. As you can see from the photo below, the pathways were greatly in need of renovation, most having turned to waterlogged mud-pools, making access difficult or impossible for the 148 club members. With the combined teamwork of the companies, some encouragement from the brightening skies and much hard work the pathways were soon to be transformed by a mini-mountain of wood-chip.
